Grandpa's Happy Day

So with four out of five grandchildren present, Grandpa desperately wanted some photos of him with everyone.  Amy happily agreed to shoot as many photos as the kids would sit (kind of) still for.

We sat on the couch for a few minutes.

And I'm going to post nearly all of the pics, since each one has an aspect to it that is not included in any other.

I just love each one.

Later on, we sat in the TV room.  At first, Jasper was having none of it so it was just Wynn and the girls.

As you can see, Grandpa was having a VERY GOOD day.  (The Flyers won in OT).  It couldn't get any better, right?

Wrong.

And then Amy either said "Everybody kiss Grandpa!" of "Don't anybody kiss Grandpa!".  I honestly can't remember which.  Either way, the result was......

So yeah, that's a good day for Grandpa.
And as soon as the photo shoot was complete he headed for the airport to fly home to Nana and more kisses.

Hockey

While the Reading/Farmers were in town, the Flyers played a Saturday afternoon game at home.
The kids were busy building a pillow fort in the TV room, so if Grandpa was going to watch the game (he was), he would have to do it with their company.

Since Oly is already a Flyers fan, it seemed like a worthy use of Grandpa's time to get the other two on board.  Should be easy, right?  After all, Lucy had some experience with the game.

You can watch here

While we waited for the basketball game to finish, Grandpa explained that the Flyers were playing the Carolina Hurricanes.  When the game came on and Lucy saw all the Flyers gear on the fans in the stands, she instantly understood that "they all root for the Flyers because they're from Philadelphia".
When Carolina scored 17 seconds into the game, Lucy noted that the "Flyers aren't trying very hard".  When the Flyers failed to score in the next few minutes, she decided that "maybe I'll root for the Tornadoes".  I corrected her the first few times she called them the Tornadoes, but after a three or four shots at it, I let it go.
After two quick Flyer goals, she was on board again.

But things stagnated for quite a while and Jasper checked out.
He summed up his thoughts on the matter with his withering comment:
"Why do you like hockey anyway? What's the point? It doesn't matter."
Right to the heart of the matter in his typical Jasper unsparing way.

Invasion From The North

Things were entirely too peaceful and calm in Media.

The Reading/Farmers arrived.

It was gratifying to see them arrive with luggage and sweaters that we gave them!

They livened things up!

But of course, the main reason for the visit was to meet Cousin and Nephew Wynn.

Jasper was having none of it, however.  But he managed to keep busy.

This is a device he actually called a "Grandpa Annoyance Machine".

Aunt Amy was able to fit in some serious Oly snoogling.

The cousins played wonderfully while the adults took turns holding the baby.

My granddaughters posed for this beautiful portrait.

 More to come.........
