Summer Photo Dump - Part III - San Juan Island

It was so beautiful over Labor Day Weekend that we just HAD to get on the water on go over to the islands.  Usually, when we got to San Juan Island we just walk on the ferry since Friday Harbor is right at the ferry terminal and there is plenty to see and do (and eat) there.
This time, we wanted to see the rest of the island so we took the car and explored.

The ferry ride was stunning, as always, on a misty morning.

We spent quite a bit of time at Roche Harbor, a gorgeous resort on the north side of the island.

There were kayaking lessons.

And a great place to sit outside for lunch.....

...with a view of the hotel

The hotel gardens.

And the marina.

There is a lavender field that Lydia has wanted to visit for a long time.  It's a little past the peak season, but we stopped to see anyway.

Then we headed to Lime Kiln Point State Park, which is a whale sighting spot.  Before we got to the park, we stopped at this lookout point.

We were hoping to spot a pod a orcas, but the only thing we saw was a pod of kayakers.

Nice view, though.

And from the park, as well.

Then back to Friday Harbor to poke around before the ferry ride home.

Summer Photo Dump - Part I - Lydia's Birthday

Lydia's 60th (?!) birthday was elegantly described here and here., so I will just add some additional photos that I have.

We awoke to a house decorated!.
This sign celebrates Lydia in the order in which she acheived these titles.

Only "Sweetheart" was missing......

After a FABULOUS breakfast......

We headed out to see what we could see.

The first stop was....

 the florist for.....

A corsage for the day!  I love this picture.

The wine tastings were great...

...and we got some great family photos outside.

The boat ride to dinner was well documented by Amy, but I have some photos from dinner that I particularly like.

And after dinner down by the lake.

Just a great and glorious day.
