A Week At Whistler, BC

We recently spent a week at a beautiful resort in Whistler, BC.

But first, on the way, we spent two nights in Vancouver.
No stop in Vancouver is complete for us without a visit to "West", our favorite restaurant. 

David Wolowidnyk is the Bar Manager and he is an absolute master of his craft.
He was recently named "Winner, BOMBAY SAPPHIRE® World’s Most Imaginative Bartender Competition, Morocco, 2012".  

The Beldi was his winning creation, so Lydia tried that (and pronounced it "stellar") and I went with my favorite, the Four O'Clock.

After a couple of drinks, we were off to our hotel.

We poked around the city on a rainy Saturday and returned to our room to find out that a magnitude 7.7 earthquake had occurred off the coast of Haida Gwaii, formerly called the Queen Charlotte Islands.
Since that is about 450 miles from where we were, we sat glued to the TV listening to tsunami warnings from Alaska to Hawaii and hearing reports from the islands.   We were waiting for aftershocks as well.
We didn't feel anything at all, although people from Alberta to the Yukon reported feeling the quake.

So it was much ado about nothing, at least from our perspective.

Nothing to do but to head to Whistler on Sunday.
